Anti-Harassment Policy

The organizers of the SPLASH Conference are dedicated to a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, therefore we are pleased to announce the adoption of the SIGPLAN anti-harassment policy.

Harassment is unwelcome or hostile behavior, including speech that intimidates, creates discomfort, or interferes with a person’s participation, or opportunity for participation, in a SIGPLAN event.

This policy has been in the works at the ACM SIGPLAN for several months; SPLASH 2011 is proud to be both the driver for that effort and the first ACM conference with such policy in place. This policy is not a symbolic gesture, delivered to satisfy a perceived need for political correctness, but instead goes to the core of both our personal beliefs and the beliefs of the community as a whole.

We give special attention to graduate students and young professionals who may feel threatened by inappropriate behavior on the part of conference participants who are often in a position of perceived power over their careers.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns regarding this matter, please contact the conference chair immediately.

If individuals choose to disregard the policy and act in an inappropriate manner at our conference, the matter will be handled swiftly and decisively.

The annual SPLASH Conference is an opportunity for the world-wide software research community to come together, build connections, and learn about each others’ ideas. We want everyone to feel safe and welcome in this professional environment.
